What to Do

A little history about this fort, Fort Canning Park is an iconic hilltop landmark has witnessed many of Singapore's historical milestones. This hill once sited the places of 14th century Kings and served as the Headquarters of the Far East Command Centre and British Army Barracks. The decision to surrender Singapore to the Japanese on 15 February 1942 was also made on this hill, in the Underground Far East Command Centre, commonly known as Battle Box.

Nowadays, this fort become a venue for celebrations. Its expansive, sprawling lawns play host to concerts, theatre productions and festivals such as Shakespeare in the Park, Ballet under the stars and many more. Moreover, this park also able to use for weddings, parties and gatherings.

One of the famous higlight in this fort is Maritime Corner which tell about Singapore Evolution from trading storage pos until international maritim center and Fort Gate, are the remains of a fort which built here in 19th century. Then, Spice Garden, ASEAN Sculpture Graden and Battle Box, ex underground military complex that used on World War II.

How to Get There

Fort Canning Park is bounded by Hill Street, Canning Rise, Clemenceau Avenue and River Valley Road. To reach this place you take MRT alight at Fort Canning Station (Exit B), Clarke Quay Station (Exit E) or Dhoby Ghaut Station (Exit B).
