What to Do

Arriving at Mandalay Royal Palace which located in North Mandalay, this palace is open daily from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm. This is the last palace which built by Burmese Royals. This palace consist of audience halls, throne halls, a monastery, watch tower court building, tooth relic building and a library where the Buddhist scriptures were kept.

FYI, this palace was made from teak wood and built in the center of a large citadel of fort. It's surrounded by four walls each e kilometers long with a total of 48 turrets. On the walls, there are 12 gates which have signs of the Zodiac. Around the walls there is a 60 meters wide moat, crossed by a number of bridges.

I come inside the palace and see there are some artifacts on display in glass showcases and several reproductions of thrones. Mostly, the original artifacts that were in the palace since the end of 19th century. Besides, there are several rooms inside this palace which display life size statues of King Mindon Min and his successor King Thibaw Min, the last Burmese King. This palace also surrounded by garden which open for public.

Finish explore this pagoda, I move to Sandamuni Paya Pagoda which located in the foot of Mandalaya Hill. Sandamuni Pagoda was built as a memorial to crown Prince Kanaung who murdered in 1866 by two of King Mindon Min's sons who were unhappy not to be the first in line to become the next King.

This golden pagoda is open daily from 8 am 8 pm and the entrance fee is around $ 5 per person. When I come inside the Pagoda, there is a large Buddha statue which made from 41000 pounds of iron and now it's covered by layer of gold.

Finish explore this pagoda, I move to anothe pagoda in Mandalay. Because this is my last day in Mandalay, so I want to explore all as many as pagoda in this city. Kuthodaw Pagoda is my next destination, it's only few meters from Sandamuni Pagoda. In Kuthodaw Pagoda there are surrounded by 729 shrines each containing a single marble slab inscribed in both sides in Burmese script. This pagoda was built by King Mindon Min at the same time the nearby Royal Palace was built.

This pagoda is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm and the entrance fee is around $ 5 per person. The main entrance of to the ground is the ornate, gold and red Sputh gate which adorned with sculptings of deities and animals from Buddhist and Hindu mythology. On the top of the gate, there is Pyattat roofs and a hti. Also, on the corridor leads to the stupa there are mural paitings from the late Konbaung period on the wall.

Next pagoda I've visit is Kusinara Pagoda which in one location with Kuthodaw Pagoda. There is a big Buddha statue adorned with decorative wall which very impressed me.

The last but not least, I visit The Su Taung Pyi Pagoda. The Su Taung Pyi Pagoda has meaning wish-granting Pagoda, it's built by King Anawratha in 414 Myanmar Era. This pagoda is located in Mandalay hill where you can also watch sunset from this hill. You can climb by take the stairways easily.

Hello guys, welcome back with me in Myanmar. Today I'm in Mandalay and wanna visit few pagodas in Mandalay and before that I rent car again for going to these pagodas. For visiting all of Pagodas in Mandalay, I pay about MMK 10000 and my first destination is Mandalay Palace.

 

Tips and Trick the golden land myanmar

Mandalay's weather is very sunny lately so don't forget to wear sunglasses, bring umbrella and bring drink. Beside, visit the pagoda you have to wear polite dress and put off your shoes when you come inside. For saving your time, it's better you rent a car for city tour in Mandalay. Because this is my last day in Mandalay, so I have to go back to hotel for check out and back to Yangon. See you on my next trip :)
